The specification, design, supply and installation of a new ‘Flight’ Dishwasher System was carried out by HCE for Salisbury District Hospital. Running to an overall length of nearly 8 metres, the ‘peg-conveyor’ Wexiodisk machine comprises of a loading section, prewash, double chemical wash, intermediate rinse section, double final rinse, drying zone and unloading section. Features include the inclusion of a ‘potwashing’ quick adjustment facility, which diverts 2.5 times more water pressure through the bottom wash arms within the chemical zones allowing cleaning of upturned pans, utensils and trays. In addition the built-in HACCP function in the electronic control system with the web tool access monitors the washing process with remote access from the chef’s office computer.

One of the main advantages in the integral unique double heat recovery system which results in low energy consumption, indeed the system can recover a total of around 30 kW, plus the dual final rinse facility results in reduced consumption of water, electricity and chemicals. Overall, these features have a massive impact to the economical running of such a machine.
