Our main area of work with architects is in creating the design, the layout and the space planning for the catering areas of their project. With accuracy of paramount importance, architects’ partner with HCE to provide advice and designs for a fully functioning kitchen that meets the brief of the end client.

A Three-Way Partnership

We work alongside the architect and their client to gather information and combine this with our knowledge on current legislation, health and safety requirements and the very latest technological advances in equipment, especially in regards to energy efficiency and sustainability, to deliver a solution that rectifies current issues, or expected issues, when a new build.  The designs are presented in collaboration with the architect.

As the buildings can be wide ranging, from care homes to leisure centres, hotels to large public venues, we always design each project to meet the needs of the venue. We take into account the number of covers over a certain period, the preferred workflow, the scope of the work and the available budget.

As part of the design team, we are involved at the start of the project, participating in client engagement meetings, producing models, elevations and creating an equipment specification to provide the architect with estimated costs. We usually suggest that these costs are taken as mid-range prices as to what is available in the market.

Following sign off of the design, we will advise on the service details, including waste water, ventilation and electrical information.
